Letter to the Community: Paint Livingston 2024

On behalf of the Overton County Arts Council, I am pleased to share the success of our inaugural Paint Livingston Plein Air Competition, held October 2024. This event was a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and community that significantly boosted local engagement and economic activity throughout Livingston and Overton County.

Over 38 talented artists from across the region—including Georgia, Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and the Upper Cumberland—participated in the three-day event, capturing the beauty of our community from the square to the countryside. Their works were featured in public exhibitions and sold to art lovers, providing an opportunity for local and visiting patrons to invest in the arts while supporting our local economy.

Key Highlights of Economic Impact:

• OCAC, artists, and visitors spent thousands on accommodations, local goods, and services, benefiting our community directly.

• The Quick Draw event and Art Exhibition drew art enthusiasts from the Upper Cumberland region, with a total of 115 original paintings created, 58 of which were sold—an outstanding outcome.

• The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from residents, business owners, and participants alike, setting a strong foundation for future events.

We are excited about the positive impact Paint Livingston has had on our community and its potential to grow in the coming years. The event truly showcased Livingston’s beauty and creativity, drawing attention to our area as a cultural destination. With your support, we are confident that Paint Livingston will become an annual tradition that strengthens both our cultural landscape and local economy.
